What is this course

The ProQual Level 4 Award in Advanced Fire Risk Assessment is an Ofqual-regulated, UK-accredited qualification designed for experienced fire safety professionals seeking advanced competence in complex fire risk evaluation. This award provides high-level training for assessing fire risks in high-risk, complex, or multi-occupied premises that require detailed technical analysis and strategic fire safety planning.

Learners develop advanced skills to conduct fire risk assessments for challenging environments including high-rise residential buildings, hospitals, educational establishments, hotels, industrial facilities, and heritage buildings. The course covers UK legal frameworks including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Building Safety Act 2022 with its enhanced requirements for higher-risk buildings, Approved Document B, and relevant British Standards including BS 9999 and BS 9997.

Training includes advanced fire dynamics, human behaviour in fire, fire protection system evaluation, fire safety management systems, preparation of technically defensible assessment reports, and legal compliance auditing. 

Prerequisites

Course Entry Requirements

To enroll in the ProQual Level 4 Award in Advanced Fire Risk Assessment, learners should meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in fire safety, health and safety, construction, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in fire safety, risk assessment, construction, or facilities management, although motivated learners from related sectors may also be considered.
  • Must have a good command of the English language.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices, strong attention to detail, and access to a computer for completing assignments and submitting fire risk assessment documentation.
