Course Overview

What is this course

The ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Utility Mapping and Surveying is a UK-accredited, advanced qualification regulated by Ofqual. It is designed for professionals involved in locating, detecting, and mapping underground utilities across construction, infrastructure, and civil engineering projects throughout the United Kingdom.

This qualification builds advanced practical skills in utility surveying, including ground-penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetic location (EML), and accurate interpretation of underground asset data. Learners develop the ability to produce detailed utility maps and survey drawings in line with PAS 128 standards, ensuring high levels of accuracy and safety in excavation and construction works.

The course aligns with key UK legal and safety frameworks, including the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, which support safe working practices around underground services. It also follows industry-recognised standards such as PAS 128:2022 and guidance from UK infrastructure authorities. Widely respected across the UK, this qualification supports progression into senior surveying and utility mapping roles within major infrastructure and utility organisations.
