Course Overview

What is this course

The ProQual Level 4 Award in the External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is an Ofqual-regulated, UK-accredited qualification designed for practitioners who monitor and maintain the quality of assessment decisions across multiple centres, training providers, or awarding organisation approved sites. This award covers essential external quality assurance responsibilities including planning activities, sampling learner evidence, observing assessors and internal quality assurers, providing standardisation support, and completing regulatory compliance reports.

The course is fully aligned with the core UK regulatory framework governing external quality assurance. This includes the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) General Conditions of Recognition, which requires assessments to be valid, reliable, and consistent across all learners. The Ofqual Code of Practice provides detailed guidance on sampling methodologies, risk-based monitoring, and standardisation activities.

The Equality Act 2010 is covered for reasonable adjustments and preventing discrimination in assessment. Additional frameworks include the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) regulatory requirements, Data Protection Act 2018 for handling learner data, and UK GDPR for secure record management. The qualification is benchmarked at Level 4, equivalent to the first year of a UK bachelor's degree.
