Course Overview
What is this course
The ProQual Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations (Construction) – Concreting is an Ofqual-regulated, UK-accredited competence-based qualification designed for concrete operatives working in construction and civil engineering environments. This NVQ diploma covers essential concreting skills including preparing sub-bases, installing formwork, placing and compacting concrete, finishing surfaces, jointing operations, and maintaining site safety.
The course is fully aligned with the core UK legal and regulatory framework governing construction and civil engineering operations. This includes the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, which places general duties on employers and employees to ensure workplace safety on construction sites. The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) is covered for understanding duty holder responsibilities, site safety management, and health and safety file requirements.
The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) is addressed for safe handling of cement, concrete additives, and release agents. Additional regulations include the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) for concrete mixing and placing equipment, and the Work at Height Regulations 2005 for formwork installation. The qualification is fully aligned with CSCS requirements for skilled worker card eligibility.
